Hypnotic Hardtail

This hardtail features an unusual paint theme requested by a local bike mechanic and volunteer firefighter. It’s a three layer Cerakote finish done in house.

Although it’s a crazy paint job, this is a no-nonsense build with all the right parts in the right places. 29+ wheels and tires are perfect for our local rough trails. High volume tires on a hardtail make for a wonderful experience of direct power transfer while giving a fair amount of compliance. This bike is ready for shorter or longer adventures with frame bag and top tube bag mounts and 3-bolt mounts for larger luggage. It features 180mm rotors all around without the need for spacers. Internal dropper cable.

It’s running a 65° head angle and 75° effective seat tube angle. I’ve found this combo to be just right for descending and climbing. It’s nimble enough, but also stable and compliant. It’s a relatively long bike too, and this helps with compliance, stability, and reduces the dive or stapler effect of a hardtail. The longer the bike and steeper the HTA, the fewer degrees shift you get in the HTA when the fork compresses. It’s not a dramatic difference, but it’s there.
